Power of 100 committed members are encouraged to connect with their favorite, local, charitable organizations to see if they meet the submission criteria and share the opportunity to apply. All charities are required to submit a Charitable Organization Submission Form and appropriate supporting documents. The Core 10 Team then reviews all applications for their completion and validity. An objective, yet confidential, scoring rubric is used in the vetting process. Applications are not discussed in a group setting, rather, all applications are vetted by the Core 10 Team members individually. Each application is reviewed, then scored, and an aggregate score is tallied. The math prevails. The top 3 cumulative scores are chosen to present charities for the event.
At the event, all 3 non-profits will present a short, 7-minute presentation telling the members about their mission, vision, and impact in the local community. There will be 3 minutes allowed for member questions for the presenting charity. A vote of the members is then held via a paper ballot, and the winner by the majority of votes
At the event, all 3 non-profits will present a short, 7-minute presentation telling the members about their mission, vision, and impact in the local community. There will be 3 minutes allowed for member questions for the presenting charity. A vote of the members is then held via a paper ballot, and the winner by the majority of votes will be announced. A winner is excluded from nominations for three years. Non-winners are eligible to be nominated again after one year. The winner will also present at the next Power of 100 meeting regarding how the "Impact Award" made a difference for their organization.
Please also note, that the application will not be provided to the general membership. The presenting charities are charged with making their message clear in their presentations.
The "Impact Award" winner ($10,000 amount) will provide individual tax receipts directly to each contributing member. Each committed member will write a check for $100 (or more if so moved) to the "Impact Award" charity. The "Impact Award" winner ($10,000 amount) will provide individual tax receipts directly to each contributing member. Each committed member will write a check for $100 (or more if so moved) to the "Impact Award" charity. The chosen non-profit will also list the total contribution under the Power of 100 Hastings Women's group name instead of the names of individual donors. The charity agrees to NOT solicit Power of 100 members or add members to a mailing list without their consent. (Non-winners may also accept donations from members at the event.) Power of 100 Hastings Women raised over $20,000 at our inaugural event on October 8, 2019! We know that together, we will continue to make an incredible, collaborative, and positive impact on our community!
We urge our members to make connections with local charities or non-profit groups that directly serve the Hastings community and its residents. These connections help spread the word about the submission process. Feel free to spread the word about the submission window!
If a charity is not selected to be one of the 3 presenting charities for an event, we will keep their information on file, however, they will be asked to fill out a new application for the next event if they choose to do so.
Please keep these guidelines in mind when connecting with your favorite charity or non-profit organization:
A submitting charitable organization must supply and meet the following criteria:
