Frequently Asked Questions

Our initiative started in early 2019.  We are just starting out, but were delighted to have filled to 100 members in about 3 weeks of our official launch!  We have a  Core Team of 10 founding members, along with the help and inspiration of other established chapters around the area. Our goal is to establish a powerful giving initiative in our local Hastings community, while creating awareness of the local charities who are making a difference every day, often times unnoticed.

Our meetings are held twice a year; in April and October.  Meetings are scheduled for approximately 1 hour. We invite you to come to the meeting early in order to spend time socializing and getting to know other members. There will be a social hour prior to each meeting from 6-7 pm.

Sorry, but at this time, we are a members only group and will not be able to accommodate guests due to space constraints. If you have a friend who would like to join us, please ask them to fill out a membership commitment form and they will be placed on the membership waiting list.  We will notify them should a space be made available. 

Your donation is tax deductible. Only registered non-profit charitable organizations will be sponsored by the POWER of 100 Hastings Women group. Checks are written directly to the charitable organization and NOT to POWER of 100. One hundred percent of your donation goes directly to the charity. Tax receipts will be issued to you by the charitable organization.

If a member cannot attend a meeting you may:

1. Send your blank, signed check to the meeting with a trusted friend, they can write in the name of the winning charity once the Impact Award winner is announced. 

2. Mail your completed check to us within 7 days of the meeting. Your check must be made out to the charity that received the Impact Award and can be sent to the POWER of 100 Hastings Women, c/o Melissa Freiermuth, 1237 View Court, Hastings, MN 55033.

In order to be considered at a meeting, the non-profit charitable organization must provide proof that they serve the Hastings Community and its residents. No national charities, programs or organizations will be considered; however, local branches of national charities may be nominated as long as the Impact Award dollars stay in this community. Recipients are expected to be registered charitable organization (IRS 501(c)(3) status or IRS 501(c)(19) status) or reside under a registered charitable organization as their fiscal agent with a minimum of 2 years of financial operations to show fiscal responsibility.  Please see the CHARITIES tab for more information. 

Because the goal of POWER of 100 Hastings Women is to make a large donation on behalf of the entire group, the answer is NO. Our group wants to be able to support this endeavor and give $10,000+ at one time to make a larger impact in our community. Hence, the POWER of joining together! We also need to make sure you get credit for your donation and remain eligible for attending and voting at future meetings. Only members in good standing can attend, nominate, and vote.

Yes! Look at the approved charities on our website for links to each of their websites. (Coming soon, after our first event!) Each charity will have a list of ways you can help them carry out their mission. You may contact them directly to get more information. 

POWER of 100 is organized and operated entirely by big-hearted women who volunteer their time. We have no employees or established bank account. Although some of our operating costs are offset by sponsor donations, most expenses are covered by the Core 10 Team. If you, or the company you work for, are interested in donating to our cause, please let us know. All funds donated at the meetings go directly to the selected charity!

POWER of 100 Hastings Women collects your personal information (including name, address, email address, phone number, etc.) strictly for the purpose of communicating and maintaining our membership list. POWER of 100 will not sell, give, or otherwise share your personal information without your expressed consent. We do like to recognize our members via social media and other venues. If a member would like to remain anonymous, please let us know at the time of joining.
